- Few days ago, there were rumours flying around reporting that Indian government might launch an Aatmanirbhar digital App Store as a rival to Google's and Apple's app store. According to these reports, this app store will be developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for Centre for Development of Advanced Computing. This app store will be very much for Indian software startups. These also say that it won't charge 30% cut on transaction similar to what Google and Apple does. This will definitely gain some attraction and has the ability to boost. Software companies in India. Indian government already has an App store for government specific apps called Mobile Seva and contains 1200 apps for public services. According to reports, they will use this as a base for bigger app store. Tech giants like Huawei, Amazon, Samsung has already tried to build their own app store but didn't succeed. And it will be fun to see if this works out.

 - Paytm launched their Paytm Mini Store on October 5th. With this Mini Store they are able to support Indian Developers to share their innovation to the masses. Now important part to note is that this won't be a proper full fledge app store instead this is a mini store which are custom built mobile website which gives users app like experience without downloading it. They are providing listing of mini apps without any charges which could attract developers. Developers can create their own mini apps using html and JavaScript technologies. More than 300 service providers including Decathlon, Ola, Park+, Rapido, NetMeds, 1MG, Domino's Pizza, FreshMenu, NoBroker, are registered in the mini store.

Now why MINI store?

The reason is Paytm cannot launch their separate app store as long as it wants to be in the Google Play Store. Google won't allow another app which enables users to download apps and hence mini store comes into play. This can be the first step towards creating a proper Indian App Store as discussed earlier.
