Samsung's M series smartphones are more focused towards Gen Z people i.e. to youths. They are offering value-for-money smartphones with their M series and are trying to compete against likes of Xiaomi and Realme. The former Samsung M30 and M31 were phones that were really popular in India. And today, they have refreshed their M30 lineup with new Samsung M31S.
South Korean Tech Giant, Samsung, has launched M31S which is an upgradation to M30 successor. Extra RAM, improved camera performance and big battery are the highlights of this smartphone which will definitely attract the people who love photography. The phone will be OK with casual gaming but not for heavy long hours of gaming due to its mediocre processor. DESIGN
Samsung has dropped their old design and have adopted a new gradient design which looks better as compared to earlier models. Rear of the phone is made of plastic. Fingerprint scanner is now embedded in the power button. It retains the quad camera setup at the back.
SCREEN
M31S sports a huge 6.5 inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with Infinity O notch design in the 20:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3.
PROCESSOR
Samsung M31S carries forward its Exynos 9611 processor which was used in M30S and M31. It comes with Mali G72 MP3 GPU.
SOFTWARE
M31S runs on Samsung's one UI 2.0 over Android 10.
CAMERAS
It has quad cameras setup at the back and a single camera at the front. 64MP (F/1.8) main camera, 12MP (F/2.2) 123 degree ultrawide lens, 5MP (F/2.4) macro lens and 5MP (F/2.4) depth camera at the back. Punch hole has a 32MP (F/2.0) lens embedded in it. Front and back cameras can both shoot 4K@30FPS videos.
BATTERY
Samsung M31S also retains 6000mAh battery. They have improved the charging speed and now it comes with 25 watt fast charging and they claim it to charge the whole battery around 97 minutes. It also supports reverse charging.
PORTS
It supports a USB type-C port at the bottom for charging and data transfer. It has a single speaker at the bottom and a headphone jack and has a dedicated SD card slot which means you can insert 2 SIMS and a SD card at the same time.
SENSORS
This smartphone has all necessary sensors:
- Fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, compass.
- Dual band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac.
- Bluetooth 5.0.
- A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS.
- NFC (Market / region dependent).
OTHERS
The phone comes in two models:
6GB RAM + 128GB ROM (INR 19,499/-) and 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM (INR 21,499/-). It supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage. Comes in two color options: Mirage Black and Mirage Blue.
