Five most popular games played during Lock-down

Computer games are being very popular especially during lock-down. Almost all of them sitting idle at home are playing games as a source of entertainment and time pass and hence some games recently have been seriously well received. So here are top five game which have been downloaded and played during lock-down on computers as well as smartphones.





1. LUDO

Ludo was the most popular game during lock-down. It was listed as the top free game in Google Play Store and Apple App Store with around 300 million downloads. This game was played by over 250 million users in which 75% were Indians and rest were from other countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. Before the lock-down, this number was 15 million.





2. PUBG

PlayerUnknown's Battleground is one of the most played game in India which is available in both mobile and PC version. During lock-down, the popularity has only increased. PUBG mobile game was played by over 2.2 million people only in the month of May whereas PUBG PC was played by over 5 Lac people last month and has an all time peak players of over 3 million. 



3. MINECRAFT

Minecraft is one of the most popular open world game due to its unique gameplay. The players have to discover the whole minecraft world and have to build their own world. Downloads during lock-down increased drastically and was played by more than 8 million players in India and a total of 126 million globally. 




4. GRAND THEFT AUTO 5

Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the best game released by Rockstar Games. It was launched in the year 2013 globally. It became popular during 2019 and was played by large number of gamers. This game was even available for free on Epic Games Store for a week during lock-down. The site went down on the first day itself. There was a hike of 12% in the last month with a total of 2.6 Lac peak players.




5. COUNTER STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE

Counter Strike: GO is one of the most popular shooting game which was released in the year 2012 globally. It was launched after the success of their own CS:Source. Also it is one of my personal favorite game. There was 27% hike in the player count during the month of April with a total players of more than a million globally.





These are only five but there were more including Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Garena Freefire, Clash of Clans, World of Warcrafts, etc.

  1. During lockdown Ludo really caught my attention as we used to play this during our vacations as kids. New tech ludo became very interesting as people from far away place could play the game together and enjoy.
